  17. <p>     The new, cooperative spirit between George Bush and Israeli
  18. Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir has prompted some Democrats to
  19. worry about their domestic standing with Jewish voters. This
  20. time it's the Democrats who come off as "wimpy," says a Jewish
  21. Democratic activist.

  23. <p>     The President won just 30% of the Jewish vote in 1988, but
  24. his decision to take on Iraq could bring him a much bigger
  25. share of that traditionally Democratic bloc in 1992. More
  26. important, Jewish Americans could start raising large sums of
  27. money for the Bush re-election effort.
